A custom-built home in the Twin Cities features Uponor’s AquaSAFE™ multipurpose plumbing and fire sprinkler system.

This new town house construction features Uponor radiant floor heating in the basement as well as a multipurpose plumbing and fire sprinkler system throughout the home.

Uponor radiant floor heating concentrates the heat near the floor where occupants can benefit for the comfort it provides. One of Uponor’s radiant heat options is called Quik Trak^® and it offers a fast and easy way to install radiant heating in new and retrofit construction. A groove down the center of the panel holds 5⁄16" Wirsbo hePEX™ plus tubing, and to facilitate tubing turns, the Quik Trak system includes return panels with U-shaped grooves.

Construction began in 2005 on what has become the largest cultural renovation project in San Francisco’s history. A Platinum LEED project, it features PEX-based radiant technology buried in a 4" concrete slab on 38,000 square feet of exhibit area to heat and cool the main floor efficiently and cost-effectively. The radiant system consists of 100,000 linear feet of hePEX™ plus tubing, connected to six 2-million BTU/h boilers and three 4-ton chillers.

This high-end, 35-story hotel and residence building situated in downtown Atlanta benefits from Uponor’s approach to plumbing with the use of AQUAPEX tubing. AQUAPEX, due to its shape memory, allows installers to make a secure connection without glues, solvents or torches. It is the most flexible tubing, with the tightest bend radius available for greatly reduced kinking and more efficient installations.

Bellevue Towers is a LEED-certified project and home to 540 private residences, restaurants and retail shops. The contractors turned to Uponor and our AQUAPEX tubing to efficiently plumb the buildings with the consideration to plan for efficient use of space and conservation of energy. AQUAPEX PEX-a tubing has a life expectancy of more than 100 years, and it’s the most freeze-resistant tubing on the market. Its shape memory allows installers to make a secure connection without glues, solvents or torches.

This building is the first LEED-certified building in the Southeast, and in order to efficiently and affordably plumb the building in accordance with LEED certification, the builders turned to Uponor’s AQUAPEX tubing to accommodate the 300,000-square-foot, 14-story building.

It only takes five minutes for a fire to engulf a typical home, and without a fire sprinkler system, a fire can burn up to an additional 15 minutes before firefighters arrive. Uponor’s AQUASAFE Fire Safety System responds to intense heat – not smoke – and draws water from the main cold-water line. The constant circulation of fresh water through the system eliminates issues such as stagnant water, corrosion and unidentified leaks found in alternative systems.

A local fire department coordinates a live burn demonstration during Fire Prevention Week to show its residents the most effective tool for homeowners in preventing damage to lives and property due to residential fires.
