Any Sport is Valid Pastime
Tim Lynch likes to stay active, both professionally and in his personal life. He may not master every sport, but he sure tries. “I like playing all sports,” he says. He is as comfortable on the golf course as he is playing the occasional pick-up basketball game with friends. Photography is his current hobby of choice: from taking landscape pictures with his daughter to taking action sports pictures of his sons.
Enthusiasm and Questions
Tim Lynch welcomes enthusiasm from the audience, and, from his perspective, you can only learn by asking questions. His teaching philosophy is based on the old proverb ‘as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.’ “We learn best by sharing expertise and information,” he says. “And the best way to learn is to create an environment where questions, interactions and comments are part of the learning experience.” He gladly admits that he, too, learns a thing or two with every training session he conducts.
Field Training is Important
Joining Uponor in 2008, Tim Lynch (based in Las Vegas) presents the ins and outs of Uponor’s commercial products to engineers, architects and commercial mechanical contractors. “It all culminates in the field,” he says, “And it is the perfect setting for training.” The hands-on experience prompts many field questions often otherwise left unasked, and he encourages each query. Trainees seem the most comfortable in the field and by engaging his students, he addresses valuable questions and concerns.
