Home Fire Sprinkler Systems

In the 1970s, people had more than 15 minutes to safely get out of their home when a fire broke out. Now, with all the synthetic materials and lightweight construction in modern homes, people have about three minutes.

Even if there is already a working smoke alarm or smoke detector in a home, it’s still not enough. Fire sprinklers can provide the chance to exit a home when a fire breaks out and can save extensive property damage.

Uponor’s multipurpose AquaSAFE™ residential fire sprinkler system is the ideal product for homes. That’s because the fire sprinkler system is combined with the home’s potable plumbing system which ensures you have fresh water available to your sprinklers each time a cold-water plumbing fixture is used.

Your Home Will Not Turn into a Giant Shower!

Fire sprinklers activate in the presence of extreme heat and only the sprinkler nearest the fire will activate. Those scenes in movies where someone sets all the fire sprinklers off and the entire room is soaked are just part of the drama, not reality.

In fact, statistics show the odds of an accidental activation is very slim — one in 16 million. So, you can feel confident knowing your sprinkler system is ready to go if you ever need it — and not when you don’t.

Homeowners Insurance Savings

Another benefit to think about is the fact that you might be able to save more on your homeowners insurance if you have a fire sprinkler system installed in your home. Check with your carrier or agent to see if your property could qualify for a discount.

 Something to Think About

  • In the U.S., a home fire is reported every 78 seconds1
  • In 2008, home fires caused 83% of civilian fire deaths and $8.5 billion in property loss1
  • In 2003-2006, smoke alarms were present in only two-thirds (69%) of all reported home fires and operated in just under half (47%) of the reported home fires2
  • Working smoke alarms combined with fire sprinklers reduce the chance of death by 80% and average property loss by 71%3
  • Sprinkler systems cost an average of $1.61 per sprinklered square foot4
